Lady Industrialist Hema Prabha Devi Joins Congress

MANGALDAI: A promising lady industrialist of the State, Hema Prabha Devi emerging as a suitable candidate in the ensuing Parliamentary election for Mangaldai HPC joined the Indian National Congress Party in presence of AICC General Secretary cum former CM of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat in a crowded party workers’ meet organized at Rajiv Bhavan here on Friday.

Harish Rawat, the AICC in charge for Assam, APCC President Ripun Bora, and leader of the opposition Debabrata Saikia significantly accorded a rousing welcome to Hema Prabha Devi. Hema Prabha Devi –a member of the Royal Koch family of Darrang is the proprietor of KN Industries which manufactures LPG cylinders at Mangaldai and she is the only lady entrepreneur of the country to establish this industry with the production capacity of 2500 cylinders per day.

In her short speech, Hema Prabha Devi who is also associated with an NGO said that it is the right time to strengthen the national unity and to save the secularism under the leadership of the Congress. Addressing the meeting, she termed the flood, erosion and the unemployment as the major problem of the State and appealed all section of the district particularly the younger generation to join the Congress.

The joining of Hema Prabha Devi in the Congress is going to throw a big challenge for party nomination aspirant heavyweights of the Congress. Significantly addressing the party workers, Harisha Rawat termed her joining in the Congress as a wonderful event

In the meeting several other persons including former Zila Parishad Member Jayanta Saharia, Rajashree Anil daughter of former Janata Party legislator of Mangaldai Anil Das also joined the Congress.
