Lakhimpur all set for Mising Autonomous Council & SKAC Election

LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur District Administration is all set ready to hold the Mising Autonomous Council(MAC) and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council(SKAC) elections on January 21. It was declared by Debashish Baishya, the Lakhimpur District Development Commissioner cum Election Officer, in a press meet on Friday at the conference hall of the DC office. “All arrangements, administrative and regarding security measures, on the part of the District administration, have been completed in order to hold the MAC and SKAC election on the stipulated date as notified by the State Election Commission”, he stated.

As per report, he declared, a total of 78,217 voters, 39,868 male, 38,349 female, will cast their franchise in MAC election in five constituencies under North Lakhimpur Election district. These constituencies are: No. 18 Bhimpara Boginadi, No. 19 Ghunasuti Pub Telahi, No. 23 Luit Pachim, No. 24 Ranganadi and No. 25 Dikrong. A total of 120 polling stations are set up for MAC poll, out of which 58 polling stations are very sensitive, 43 sensitive and 19 comparatively sensitive. Ten zonal officers and thirty two sector officers are entrusted for MAC constituencies. Eighteen candidates are in fray in these constituencies for MAC election.

Similarly, 9,851 voters, 7,136 male and 4,715 female, will script the fate of seven contesting candidates of two constituencies in SKAC election under the district. The constituencies are: No. 21 Telahi and No. 2 Boginadi constituencies. Out of total 29 polling stations, set up for SKAC election, 5 polling stations are very sensitive, while thirteen are sensitive and eleven are comparatively sensitive. Six zonal officers and seven sector officers are entrusted for the SKAC constituencies on the poll day. As per the information of the election officer, a total of 671 polling personnel, 164 presiding officers, 164 first polling officers, 164 second polling officers, 164 third polling officers and 15 fourth polling officers are engaged for the polling of both election in the district. Ten percent of each category officer are kept reserved.
