LAKHIMPUR, June 6: Expressing vehement resentment against the BJP-led Union and State governments, the Lakhimpur District Congress Committee (LDCC) observed Viswashghatakata Divas in Lakhimpur on Wednesday alleging comprehensive failure on the part of both governments with regard to fulfilment of the hopes and aspirations of the common people, their U-turn in case of realizing the election promises and their poor administration.
On this occasion, the party workers of the district assembled at Rajiv Bhavan where LDCC president Dr Joy Praksh Das and vice-president slammed the BJP governments in the Centre and the State. Then the activists of the party set out to the Deputy Commissioner’s office taking out rally and shouting anti-government slogans.
LDCC submitted a memorandum to the Governor through the Lakhimpur DC strongly opposing the sky-rocketing price hike, exorbitant increase of land revenue, polarizing politics of the State government, its alleged support to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, attack on democracy by not conducting the panchayat poll, obstruction created by the State coordinator of NRC against the due update process ignoring the guidelines served by the Supreme Court, standstill development of the State as well as pathetic road communication system and degradation of law and order. The party appealed to the Governor to initiate steps regarding the issues.
