‘Land compensation issue  should not hit development’

Itanagar, May 23: While pointing out that the most important aspects for development of any area or region are road and telecommunications, Arunachal Ptradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra said it is the responsibility of every citizen to facilitate construction of road(s).

Further citing the recent inaugural commercial flight services from Pasighat airport, the Governor said that land compensation should not be a hurdle in the developmental process. He fervently appealed the people for their cooperation in the land compensation issue. He also advised that people must explore ways to gift the land and if at all required, it should be reasonable.

Presently on a four-day district tour to Kra Daadi and Kurung Kumey districts, the Governor said this while addressing a public meeting at Palin, Kra Daadi on Tuesday, an official report informed here today.

Informing that there are large numbers of developmental schemes and programmes which are in various stages of implementation, the Governor said these programmes will be beneficial to the people if it is implemented properly by maintaining transparency and accountability.

He appealed to the people to be partners in the developmental process by ensuring that the programmes are implemented honestly. Our effort must be to see that development reach the last village of the State.

Further emphasizing that the health and education sectors be given top priority, the Governor requested the elected representatives to contribute in these sectors with MLALAD fund, particularly for purchasing medical equipments and washrooms for girls in schools. He also expressed his concern about tendency of soft posting by teachers and doctors.

Stating that 60 per cent of the state’s population is farmers, the Governor appealed to the agrarian community to be progressive, innovative and experiment new crops, better crops and cash crops. He also emphasized on agricultural entrepreneurship. The Governor also asked the security personnel and agencies to guarantee safety and security of the fairer gender. Every citizen has to shoulder responsibility to ensure that there is no misdemeanor against our daughters, sisters and mothers, he added.
