Land pattas distributed to 137 tribal families in Tangla

TANGLA: In order to facilitate protection of land rights of the indigenous people of Assam, State Public Health Engineering and Cooperation Minister Rihon Daimari distributed land pattas to 137 tribal families in remote Sikaridanga village, 25 km north of Mazbat town in Udalguri along the Assam-Arunachal border on Monday.

According to reports, tribal families were residing in the place since 1935. Speaking on the occasion, Daimari stated that the landless indigenous tribal people’s long standing demand of land pattas had been fulfilled.

Mazbat legislator Charan Boro also spoke on the occasion. The event was also attended by BTC EM Shyam Sundi; BTC MCLA Ripen Daimari; Udalguri DC Dilip Kr. Das; and Dhansiri Forest Division, DFO, MK Sarma, among others.
