LAPF serves ultimatum on Arunachal Government

Our correspondent

Itanagar, May 4: The Land Affected People Forum (LAPF) on Thursday served an ultimatum on the State Government, urging the government not to transfer the incumbent Deputy Commissioner of Lower Subansiri district till the completion of land acquisition and disbursement of compensation to all the beneficiaries of road from Joram to Koloriang.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, the forum said that the abrupt transfer of DC would not only disrupt the smooth and speedy land acquisition process, but would also affect the disbursement of compensation to the beneficiaries.

In this regard, the forum fervently appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene and not to transfer the incumbent DC till the completion of land acquisition and disbursement of compensation, failing which it threatened to launch a democratic movement.

Echoing similar sentiment, the All Lower Subansiri Youth Association (ALSYA) also appealed to the State government not to transfer the Deputy Commissioner. If the transfer is done on the behest of some political leaders it will adversely affect development of the area, the association stated.

The association also opined that the DC should be retained in the same post as provided under the service rule.
