JOYSAGAR, May 7: Assam Police Special Operation team led by Charaideo Superintendent of Police again launched an operation in the Assam-Arunachal border area on Monday afternoon and following this, a large cache of explosives, including RDX powder, IED detonator, live bullets, AK-56 magazine and many other materials belonging to suspected ULFA (I) rebels were recovered.

Sources revealed that acting on a tip-off, the operation team nabbed a suspected ULFA (I) linkman who was identified as Ananta Gogoi (38) of Bhogbari, Kanubari under Sapekhati Police Station and according to his confession, police searched his house and were able to find the explosives hidden near a pond in the residential complex. Besides, many pairs of uniform were also found in Gogoi’s house and police doubt that the clothes belonged to the ULFA (I) rebel group which was active in the areas, along with NSCN group. Police as well as CRPF personnel are continuing the search operation, said sources.
