Large cache of explosives recovered

Bongaigaon, Feb 18: Following information, the 156th Battalion of CRPF and in association with Chirang district police, recovered a large cache of explosives from a bus (AS-01-Y-2110) from Barpeta to Bijni in NH-31 at Dahalapara area under Bijni PS of Chirang district.

Shankarbrata Rai Medhi, Chirang Superintendent of Police, said that about 21 gelatin sticks, 20 detotors along with 12 extortion letters of NDFB (S) were recovered during mobile checking on Saturday. “We interrogated all the passengers of the bus but nobody has been found suspicious to be arrested. We will continue our interrogation and hope we will get a result soon,” he said.

All the materials recovered have been seized by police. On the backside of an extortion letter, it was written that the explosives had to be handed over to some Baburam Gayari.
