Large-scale erosion hits Morigaon

A Correspondent

MORIGAON, May 14: Tulsibori and Mikirgaon under Laharighat block in Morigaon district have been hit by large-scale of erosion of the Brahmaputra. The people of Tulsibori and Mikirgaon have been affected badly as large-scale erosion of the Brahmaputra washed away their homes and farming land. Since the last two months, erosion forced them to shift at nearby areas or under the open sky at high lands. Erosion also hit Tulsibori and Mikirgaon areas with 10.20 metre scale for which only 100 metres has left from the erosion-hits areas to the LP school, Jama Masjid, Hafiza Madrassa and ME school. Even after repeated appeal for solving the erosion problem by the people, the State Water Resources Department has turned a deaf ear towards the erosion-affected people.
