Latiplang Kharkongor, Fantin File Papers For KHADC Polls

SHILLONG: Sitting MDC in the KHADC Latiplang Kharkongor and a new entrant in the district council polls Fantin Joseph Lakadong on the first day of filing of nominations submitted their papers at the Deputy Commissioners office East Khasi Hills District on Saturday.

Kharkongor will be contesting the MDC polls as an independent candidate from Nongthymmai constituency while Lakadong will contest the election as a Congress candidate from Laitumkhrah constituency.

Speaking to reporters, Kharkongor informed that he is confident of winning the district council polls as he has been able to work for the interest of the people. Kharkongor is a three-time MDC in the KHADC and this is his fourth term to contest the council polls.

“I have always tried my best to bring developmental activities to the constituency and I’m confident that the people will still have faith in me by giving their support,” he said. When asked, Kharkongor said that at present he does not feel that there is any danger or threat from other candidates contesting the council polls as he is confident that the people will support him in the upcoming KHADC polls later this month.
