A REPORTER

SHILLONG, Aug 12: The working president of KHM Adelbert Nongrum today claimed that Latiplang Kharkongor, MDC from Nongthymmai constituency, resigned from the party because of persol interest and not for any conflict of ideas with the party members.

“This has been his plan all along to resign from the party. He was waiting for the right time to make his move,” Nongrum told media person at his residence here on Wednesday.

According to Nongrum, no one from the party has ever questioned Latiplang on his actions and decision making so far.

Nongrum informed that he only sent an SMS to Latiplang recently telling him not to misuse the party me and that it was him alone, no other KHM leader was involved with the decision to send the SMS as claimed by Latiplang.

On the allegations made by Latiplang that KHM is silent when it comes to issues which concerns the people especially the recent MUDA building bye-laws, Nongrum said, “Our party always stand for the rights of the people,” adding that when he was the KHADC Chief he had written to the State government asking it to immediately scrap the building bye-laws issued by MUDA since it comes into conflict with the areas that falls under the jurisdiction of the District Council.
