Law-and-order situation in northern Assam reviewed by Additional Chief Secretary to the GoA

Tezpur: Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Home and Political, etc., Kumar Sanjay Krishna, IAS, held a high-level meeting and reviewed the law and order situation of Northern Assam districts ahead of the publication of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) on July 31 next at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Special DGP (Border) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, IPS, ADGP (L&O) Mukesh Agrawal, IPS, IGP (SB) Hiren Chandra Nath, DIGP (BTAD), Udalguri, Satyaraj Hazarika, IPS, DIGP (NR), Tezpur, Lachit Baruah, IPS, Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur, Narsing Pawar, IAS, DC Lakhimpur, Dr. B. Jeevan, IAS, DC Dhemaji, Manavendra Pratap Singh, IAS, DC Udalguri, Dilip Kumar Das, ACS, DC Biswanath, Pabitra Ram Khound, ACS along with SP Sonitpur, Kumar Sanjit Krishna, APS, SP Lakhimpur, Santanu Kumar Dutta, APS, SP Dhemaji VV Rakesh Reddy, IPS, SP Udalguri Longnit Terang, APS, SP Biswanath, Rakesh Roushan, IPS, Addl Deputy Commissioners, Sonitpur K.K. Sharma and Parag Kakaty. The Addl Chief Secretary directed the officials concerned to maintain law and order in their respective areas of jurisdiction and reach out to the people to do away with any misgivings and clear any doubts about the NRC process. The Addl Chief Secretary also assessed the flood and JE scenario in these districts and asked the officials to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the afflicted people receive timely government aid.
