Leading social worker and the founder Headmaster of Arunuday School passes away in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: Pranab Kumar Phukan, a leading social worker and the founder Headmaster of Arunuday School, died in Assam Medical College Hospital, Dibrugarh on Monday night due to the asthmatic ailment. He was 78 and is survived by his wife and two sons.

Besides being former president of Gabharubheti Co-operative Society and Gabharubheti Gaon Panchayat (GP), he was life-member of Axam Xahitya Xabha. He took the initiative to establish the Phillobari Arunuday School in a backward area. He retired from the school as Headmaster.

His death has cast a pall of gloom and has been widely mourned by organizations and individuals like MLA Durga Bhumij, litterateur Punya Saikia and Principal of DHSK College, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia.
