Leopard captured at Jhanji

GAURISAGAR, May 31: A four-foot long leopard was captured on Wednesday morning at Jhanji Phulpanichiga Changmai village under Gaurisagar police station in Sivasagar district. The leopard had been creating panic in Phupanichiga Changmai, Gorakush and Moranchiga villages by killing livestock of farmers. In this regard, local people urged the forest department to capture the leopard  but in vain. On Tuesday, the local people set a trap brought from mti  and on Tuesday night  the leopard was captured. Local people informed the district forest office. Sivasagar divisiol forest personnel reached the spot and recovered the leopard. After treatment  in the rescue camp, the leopard will be  released in the Abhoypur reserve forest in Sivasagar district, said Bidya Bordoloi, DFO (Wildlife), Sivasagar.
