Letter To The EDITOR- Tale of a dilapidated road

Tale of a dilapidated road

One of the most significant roads (Dibrugarh -Tinsukia) is in a dilapidated condition. Commuters commuting along the roads have a horrible tale to tell. One fails to understand why the entire stretch of the road was not given a facelift, why hardly 20 to 25% of the road was renovated. Chabua is where our Chief Minister’s ancestral home is located but it seems as if the dilapidated road derides our chief minister. People are always expecting ‘Achche-Din’ but even after completion of almost 3 years in the office the state government could not rise to the occasions to fulfil certain minimum expectation of the people who have to cry foul over the deplorable road-condition. Drivers driving along the said road have a tough time to negotiate with the pits. It is unfortunate that the people of the two districts that generate the highest revenue for Assam’s coffers have to face such a traumatic journey. Incidentally, the Chief-Minister and the PWD ministers are always seen moving in a helicopter. They should realize the plight of the common man, remembering the maxim, ‘As you sow, so shall you reap’.

Through your esteemed daily, we appeal to the chief minister to take necessary steps to renovate the entire stretch of road.

Ashok Bordoloi.
