School Bag

The directive issued by the Union HRD Ministry putting a curb on the weight of school bags as well as on home work for class one and two students is a welcome move. The issue has been long discussed and some states had already taken steps in this direction. Now it is up to the state Governments how it implements this directive. I would like to request the Government of Assam to take immediate steps in regard to heavy school bags and home work for class one and two, and implement the directives letter and spirit. The topic has been much discussed in the whole country, even a school boy of 12 years old named Rugbed Gaikowad of Nagpur started sit-in protest at Constitution point on October 2, 2016, the Gandhi Jayanti against allowing to carry heavy school bags which may affect the health of students.
