Swacch Survekshan, 2019

The Swachh Survekshan, 2019 survey adjudging the Tangla town in Udalguri district for the Swachh City Award is a matter of proud for every citizen of the town. The award is given by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The award goes to the town for being the fastest moving city in the Northeast under population category below one lakh.

It is possible only for the wholesome efforts of BTC Executive Member-cum-Chairman of Tangla Municipal Board, Bonjar Daimari. He has been instrumental and devoted to imbibing the essence of cleanliness among the people in record of sanitation and cleanliness. In his second term of chairmanship he has carried out a slew of development activities and the people of the town are grateful for his works.

Zero tolerance or zero vigilance against corruption?

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, as often as not, reiterates in public meetings about his zero tolerance against corruption. It is certainly a matter of pleasure for us. However, what is irksome is that he has zero vigilance against corruption. We have enough reasons for disappointment that in spite of his zero tolerance against corruption, there is corruption in the state.

I would like to mention only a few of them which have become regular in the state. In a forest division, in addition the DFO, there are many forest officials for the protection of the forest wealth. However, these people, instead of protecting forest resources, are destroying them in collaboration with some miscreants. Our Chief Minister does not see them. Some former top police officials like Srivastav, Khagen Sharma and others have been keeping some home guards as their domestic servants at government expense. They are keeping with them several official cars with drivers. However, our Chief Minister does not see them.

Almost 95% people do not need kerosene today. Those who need kerosene have to purchase it from the streets where some miscreants are selling it openly at more than double the actual price. Since most of the kerosene from the fair price shops is sold in the black market openly, why is kerosene still under control of the government?

Paramananda Bora,

Jyoti Path, Bhetapara, Beltola.
