Congress must work out a new strategy

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) has rejected Rahul Gandhi's resignation even after the defeat of their party in the Lok Sabha elections. He took responsibility of the loss and requested the party stalwarts and members to elect a new president from outside his family. The party is often criticized because of the 'Gandhi' name tag and also of nepotism. The CWC solicited that Rahul Gandhi must continue as the chief and with unanimously turned down his request. It is good to know that the party's ideological battle for the cause of the youth, farmers, minorities and other deprived sections of the society will continue. They have decided to engage in the administrative process with their constructive criticism. They can definitely play a positive role in the opposition by holding the government accountable on behalf of the people. The party must find the root cause of their loss during the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections and work on their setbacks, to regain approbation of the electorate. The party may have exhibited a better performance had it concentrated on advocating for themselves, rather than trying to tarnish the image of the BJP or run a smear campaign against the 'Chowkidar'.

Dissolve all Assemblies to pave way for simultaneous elections

After the landslide BJP victory in recently held 2019-elections to Lok Sabha, there is large-scale defection of MLAs of other parties to BJP. Apart from this, there is also fear of fall of state governments withthin majority in state assemblies for which elections were held in November 2018 except in Telangana.

Prime Minister and many others have always favoured revival of simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha as well as all state assemblies like was the system till the year 1967. The Central Government should take a bold step of dissolving all state assemblies except those having recently held simultaneous elections in the year 2019, like was done in the year 1977 after landslide victory of newly formed Janta Party with simultaneous elections held in November 2019 with due elections to State Assemblies of Haryana and Maharashtra. It may be announced that next simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha and all State Assemblies would be in February 2024 with February being the most favoured month for holding elections.

Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas

At the meeting held among the partners of the NDA in the Central Hall of Parliament, Narendra Modi was unanimously elected leader of the NDA which came out victorious with a thumping majority in the recently concluded Parliamentary polls. Addressing the elected MPs and office-bearers of the different constituent parties of the NDA, Modi pinpointed certain vital issues. First and foremost, he asked all the MPs to shun arrogance reminding them that the people of India gave them a greater responsibility with an overwhelming majority and that they must live up to the people's expectations. The second-time Prime Minister further said that "the people must have noticed certain positive changes in the governance of our last regime which prompted them to repose faith on us, and voted us to power a second time in a row as there was no anti-establishment wave." It is also in the fitness of things that Modi stressed the need of instilling confidence among the minority communities and to move forward taking all of them together with the slogan – 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas'.
