Liquor sale prohibited along NH-44

SHILLING, June 28: In order to prevent and minimize the frequent fatal road accident along the tiol Highway 44 occurred in the few years the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District has issued an order under section 144 of the Code of Crimil Procedure act (CrPC) prohibiting liquor sale along the tiol Highway 44, restaurants, hotels and dhabas in the entire district except in the licensed bars.
The DC also urged the people to cooperate with the district administration on the matter to strictly adhere to the order for safety along the tiol Highway. Any one violating the order will be prosecuted.
