Local organizations demand employment of local youths, ask outsiders to leave

DIGBOI, April 25: A section of local people of Digboi in association with various organization, including NSUI, ABVP, Digboi Trade Union and Mahila Samity on Tuesday staged demonstration against the AOD Magement Digboi in front of the administrative entrance.

 The agitated demonstrators cried slogans against the magement and demanded the authority to immediately absorb the local youths under various categories of contractual jobs here in the industry. The disgruntled unemployed youths lamented that they were treated inhumanely while in the contractual service at various establishments and industries outside Tinsukia district on the ground of territorial discrimition or belonging to other districts.

 Meanwhile, serving an ultimatum to the contractual workers of various districts other than Tinsukia employed under various categories of jobs in oil industry to immediately leave Digboi, the agitators at the same time demanded of the AOD magement to absorb the educated unemployed youths without delay, thus driving the outsiders who were earning their bread and butter here in Digboi under the corporation.

 “In case of any unwarranted and unpleasant consequences erupting out of non-compliance of the cries and demands of the people of Digboi by both the AOD magement and  AOD contractual workers coming from other districts, the AOD Magement alone will be responsible for the disturbances thus caused,” remarked  a worker who was assaulted at BCPL Dibrugarh recently.

 However, following the interference of local police and later after submitting memorandum to the AOD authority, the agitation ended.
