Lok Adalat disposes off 234 cases

Itanagar, April 23: A total of 1,017 cases comprising criminal, pre-litigation and civil were listed for hearing with various legal services authorities (from the high court to the court of the judicial magistrate) during the second nationwide Lok Adalat held in the State.

Out of 1,017 cases, around 234 cases, including 69 pre-litigation and 165 pending civil, criminal and other cases were disposed off. The final award of compensation to the litigants as settled in the Lok Adalats came to Rs 60, 31,710. The Itanagar bench of the Gauhati High Court Legal Services Committee took up 12 MACT cases and disposed off four, involving an amount of Rs 9, 44,138.

Various district legal services authorities also conducted Lok Adalats in their respective premises. This was stated in a press release.
