Lok Sabha Polls: As Per The Predictions of Meteorologists Squalls May Mar Phase II Polls

GUWAHATI: The second phase of the Lok Sabha poll in Assam may be marred by thundersqualls as meteorologists predict that waves of squalls are to continue in various parts of Assam till April 19 since when the situation is set to relent. The forecast is such that the squalls with wind speed 40-70 km/hour are set to lash various parts in the State till April 19. By April 21, the situation is set to relent, sources in the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) said.

Lok Sabha constituencies – Silchar, Karimganj, Malgaldoi, Nagaon and Autonomous District – are going to poll on April 18.

The centre further predicted thunderstorms and hailstorms with gusty wind (40-70 km/hour) are likely at isolated places over Morigaon, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Dima Hasao, Cachar, Lakhimpur, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Baksa, and Kamrup (Metro) on the night of April 17. Such a weather condition can also be seen at isolated places in Darrang, Hojai, Sonitpur, Hailakandi, Karimganj, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Barpeta, Kamrup and Nalbari districts.
