Lower Assam Commissioner visits Kokrajhar ahead of Modi's visit

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 16: Prime Minister rendra Modi is coming to Kokrajhar, the head quarter of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on January 19. Lower Assam Commissioner Mehtab Uddin Ahmed on Saturday visited Kokrajhar to take stock of the situation and ground preparations.

The Lower Assam Commissioner held a meeting at Kokrajhar Circuit House with the officials of district administration and police and defence officials on the law and order situation to pass the people’s gathering peacefully.

Earlier, Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay also visited Kokrajhar recently to brief about the law-and-order situation of the region ahead of Prime Minister rendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Kokrajhar. Sahay, reaching first visited SAI Centre, which is to be placed as landing spot and later at BTC Secretariat ground, the venue of the meeting where the Prime Minister will address the gathering.

DGP also held a meeting with high security officials including Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Madhav Prasad Sarma, IGP (BTC) LR Bishnoi, ADGP RM Singh, SPs from Chirang and Kokrajhar along with officials of Assam Police, Army, CRPF, SSB. During the meeting, Sahay took stock of security arrangements including law and order in the district and shared security engagement with high police officials.

Later talking to reporters, Sahay termed his visit is a routine visit to access the security arrangement ahead of Prime Minister’s visit in Kokrajhar. The preparations are almost complete.
