GUWAHATI, July 12: On receiving a letter from the Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC), the Kamrup (M) District Magistrate ordered an inquiry into the death of life convict Durga Panika who was undergoing treatment at GMCH. Notably, the attending doctor of GMCH referred her to Cancer Care Foundation, Deepsikha, Mirza on June 19 for supporting care and management. However, it was informed by the authority of Deepsikha that the said life convict died on June 22.

Additional District Magistrate, Kamrup (M) district Gunajit Kashyap will find the out the circumstances leading to the death and the report will be submitted within 15 days. On the other hand, another order has entrusted the Additional District Magistrate, Kamrup (M) district Ranjit Konwar to inquire the death of under trial prisoner (UTP) Rohijuddin SK (65) who expired on July 1 while undergoing treatment at GMCH. The report will be submitted within 15 days.
