Mahila Samiti in Nagaon Goes Undercover, Apprehended one for selling booze illegally

Samuguri: With the Electioneering gaining its momentum in the state, several Women groups and Mahila Samiti had come up to toughen their drive against the production of illicit countrymade liquors in their respective areas.

On Tuesday, under the aegis of Mahila Samiti of Puranigodam’s Panigaon village under Nagaon District had apprehended one person for allegedly selling local-made alcohol in the area since the last couple of months illegally.

Speaking to the media, one of the members of the Mahila Samiti alleged that the person has been illegally selling local-made alcohol in the area since a couple of years. “He has got no proper documents and license permit to sell alcohol, but, he has been operating in the area with fake documents and license permit, therefore, we have launched the operation and caught the person red-handed while selling alcohol to one local people. We have informed the matter to the Excise Department,” said the woman worker for Mahila Samiti.

It may be mentioned that there has been constant drive against the production of illegally made alcohols in the state by several section women groups after the Hooch Tragedy in Golaghat and Jorhat District.
