Maina Parijat biennial session concludes successfully in Biswanath

Biswanath Chariali: The first biennial session of Gohpur District Maina Parijat, a children’s body, concluded successfully on Sunday in the premises of Nehru Higher Secondary School at Gopalpur under Gohpur sub-division in Biswanath district with a three-day long programme.

The open session was presided over by Niribil Borah of Kalabari Anchalik Maina Parijat. Inaugurating the session, Dr Milan Neog, eminent writer, said that it had become necessary to grow oneself as an ideal citizen in the society at present time. Taking part as the distinguished guests in the session, Kamal Chandra Bhuyan, vice president of Sadou Asam Maina Parijat, Dr Jugal Borah, National Teacher Award winner and eminent educationist, Kamal Phukan, Rector, Ambikagiri Jatiya Vidyalaya and Pradeep Hazarika, treasurer, delivered speeches suitable for children and observed that a platform like Maina Parijat is very much essential for alround development of children. They also sought help and cooperation from the parents to strengthen Maina Parijat. Dipannita Borah from North Lakhimpur Maina Parijat and Pratiksha Saikia from Biswanath District Maina Parijat participated as child distinguished speakers and dwelt at length on the mental growth of children.

Gohpur MLA Utpal Borah assured his help to set up a permanent office of the children’s body at Gohpur. Children Pranayan Jyoti Bhuyan, Samiksha Bora and Devashri Konwar also spoke a few words on the occasion. The souvenir ‘Gajali’ edited by Jyoti Hazarika was released by Rup Konwar Mili, Convenor of Biswanath District Sahitya Sabha Kavi Sanmilan. Two other books namely ‘Galite Ghar Amar Pelaniya Khadya’ written by Basanta Krishna Borah and ‘Ek Baji Pachish Minit’ written by Shantanu Koushik Borah were released by Banshi Borah and Dr Bhaskar Jyoti Gogoi, respectively. Earlier, a cultural procession was taken out. Children from different parts of Gohpur subdivision took part in several competitions during the three-day session.
