Majority of Congress MLAs are of Bangladeshi origin: BJP

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, April 22: Assam BJP has made a serious allegation that all the Muslim MLAs of the Congress in Assam are of Bangladeshi origin. This was stated by State BJP spokesperson Muminul Aowal.

In a party statement, Aowal said, “The Congress is a protector of illegal Bangladeshi nationals. It is the party that opposed the Assam Movement and has always been at the opposite pole in the matter of national interest. Hence its stand can never be in the interest of Assam and its people. National interest does not find reflection in the thought process of the Congress. The people of Assam have been realizing this aspect since independence. The mindset of the Congress is akin to that of Bangladeshis. Lakhs of Muslim Bangladeshis were settled in Assam during the rule of Syed Sadullah. A look at the list of MLAs of Assam makes it clear that it is a party similar to the AIUDF that represents the people of East Bengal. Majority of the MLAs of the Congress  in Assam are Muslim MLAs of Bangladeshi origin.”

He further said that the people of Assam have not forgotten the corruption, injustice or atrocities indulged in the Congress in the 15 years  of its rule before the BJP captured the seat of power in the State.

Aowal  also said that the four pillars on which the present BJP government in Assam is anchored are foreigner-free, corruption-free, pollution-free and terrorism-free, adding that the Congress is highly worried over the ongoing anti-corruption drive initiated by Dispur.
