Silchar, May 28: Five beneficiaries of Binnakandi block of Indira Awaas Yojana were promised by Kukil Khan (50) of Bhuvandor under Lakhipur police station that he would help them to build their houses. Money was also sanctioned under the Yojana. Kukil assured them that he would help them with building their houses. He took money from them and vanished. Finding no other way, the beneficiaries lodged an FIR with Lakhipur police. Acting on a tip off, a police team led by office in-charge Inspector Anwar Hussain Choudhury, Lakhipur police station along with ASI D D Singha sprang into action and arrested Kukil Khan from his residence recently. He was produced before the sub divisional judicial magistrate court, Lakhipur, which sent him to Silchar Central Jail.
