Man arrested for sexual harassment

JOYSAGAR, April 25: Rumid Ali (52), a fourth grade employee of Namtipul Girls’ High School in Sivasagar district was apprehended by Namti Police on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in a sexual harassment case registered in the Namti PS (41/18). The FIR was lodged by six girl students of the school. They alleged that ‘Chowkidar Rumidkai’ often made sexually explicit comments in front of the students and would also touch the girls inappropriately. Following the complaint of the students, Namti Police finally apprehended the accused. Meanwhile, the AASU Namti Regional Committee has sharply condemned the incident and asked the Namti Police to take strict action against the accused.
