Man arrested in forgery case

Silchar, May 27: Debashish Das, 30, a resident of Jirighat, ndankan, has been arrested at Silchar on Thursday for issuing false appointment letters to three persons. The victims, Paplu Saha of Public School Road, Sudarshan th of Vivekanda Road and son of a policeman Manoranjan Das, Akash Das, were asked to pay a sum of Rs.2.5 lakh. Debashish Das assured each of them a post as a Block Executive in the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Cachar. The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan is an autonomous government body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
It has been informed that only Akash Das and Sudarshan th had paid a sum of Rs. 20,000 as an advance when Debashish asked for the money. On April 12, Akash Das gave a cheque to Debashish Das. A few days ago, on May 24, both Paplu Saha and Akash Das received an appointment letter. The false appointment letters had the logo, me, despatch number and despatch date as 21.05.2016. The address on the appointment letter read Laxmi gar District Centre, Vikas Marg, New Delhi along with two email addresses for feedback and further queries.
Upon receiving the letters, both Paplu and Akash had a suspicion and consequently they contacted the District coorditor of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Cachar. The officials confirmed it that is a case of cheating and that no such appointment letters had been ever issued in the recent times. Akash Das filed a FIR with the police. The two called Debashish Das on a place just to discuss matters and police trapped him. Debashish had earlier introduced himself as a worker of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Cachar.
Saswati Deb, coorditor of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Cachar, too has filed a complaint against Debashish in forgery case. He is at Silchar Sardar Tha. Debashish Das had actually served as a temporary worker without payment at Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan of this town for the last 2 years. Akash Das told that he knew Debashish for the last 6 months. Further routine investigations are carried by Jagadish Das, Additiol Superintendent of Police, Cachar.
