Bongaigaon: A 70-year old man was nabbed by RPF team on Wednesday night from the Kamakhya-Dhubri passenger train. Subhas Das from Barpeta used to befriend train passengers, offer them drug-laced food and then rob them. Talking to mediapersons, a RPF personnel said that they had information about this drug-and-loot gang. “We were searching for this gang since a long time. Last night we received information about two passengers who had become unconscious in the Dhubri passenger train.

We immediately formed a team in New Bongaigaon and also alerted other stations. At 1.17 am when the train arrived at Mazgaon station, one of our jawans who was on duty in Mazgaon, entered the coach and found the two unconscious passengers. On the basis of suspicion we nabbed this old man. Subhas Das confessed to looting train passengers after drugging them. He also said that two more persons, Arun from Jogighopa and Barman from West Bengal, were part of his team. We are looking for those two and have sent the two passengers to Railway Hospital for treatment. They are out of danger now,” the RPF personnel said. “This gang used to mix drugs in food items like biscuits, tea and coffee. Eating a drug-laced biscuit can make a person senseless for about four hours,” the RPF personnel said.
