Man kills 60-year-old Mother in Biswanath, Accused Arrested

Biswanath: Shocking but a true incident, a man under influence of alcohol had allegedly killed his own mother on Thursday night in Balipukhuri area under Biswanath District.

As per local people, accused identified as Shambu Gowala has been torturing her 60-year-old mother physically for the last couple of years.

What was more shocking in this incident was the teenager son of the accused had alleged that his father abused his grandmother on several occasion and tortured her physically.

“He killed last night, hitting all over her body with sandals and shoes,” revealed the son.

After killing his own mother, accused Shambu dressed her up with new clothes, however, forgot to hide the previous one.

Speaking to media, local people informed that villagers after spotting the lady unconscious had reported the matter to Biswanath Police.

Following the complaint, police reached the spot and arrested Shambu in connection to the incident and sent the body of the 60-year-old woman for post mortem.

As per the media and agencies report, alcohol plays a large role in criminal activities and violence.

Excessive drinking has the ability to lower inhibitions, impair a person’s judgment and increase the risk of aggressive behaviors. Because of this, alcohol-related violence and crime rates are on the rise throughout the country.

Over the past several decades, researchers have examined the relationship between alcohol, drugs and crime. Data suggests that engaging in prolonged drinking or binge drinking significantly increases the risk of committing violent offenses. Criminal activities come with severe consequences such as time in jail, legal fees and other court-ordered penalties.

A number of individuals that serve time in jail have committed alcohol-related crimes.

Offenses range from minor to serious and include property crime, public-order offenses, driving while intoxicated, assault and homicide. On average, roughly 40 percent of inmates who are incarcerated for violent offenses were under the influence of alcohol during the time of their crime. Many of these criminals had an estimated blood alcohol content (BAC) level of more than three times the legal limit at the time of their arrest.
