Man Throws Old Mother into Kolong River in Nagaon, Assam

NAGAON: Sensation prevailed in Nagaon town on Thursday morning after a son killed his mother by throwing her into the Kolong river on Wednesday night. According to police sources as well as some local people, Pramud Agarwala on Wednesday night at around 9 pm, took his old and frail mother Ratna Devi Agarwala (90) on an e-rickshaw towards the Kolong river and allegedly threw her into the river. But soon after the incident, some local people heard a sound and rushed to the spot.

Subsequently, they caught hold of Pramud on the spot. When they failed to find out the exact cause of the sound, they grew suspicious and immediately called the local police. The police rushed to the spot and the local people handed Pramud over to the police. Later, Pramud confessed that he brought his mother to the bank of the Kolong near the ASTC bus stand and in a druken stupor, threw her into the river.

Soon after intimation of the entire incident, Nagaon Police on Thursday morning launched STRF rescue drive across the river to find the body but till filing of this report, Nagaon Police had not found the body of the unfortunate woman.
