Mandsaur rape case: Two Men Sentenced To Death For Raping Minor Girl In June

A special court in its historical verdict awarded double death sentence to two accused men for raping and attempted murder of a seven-year-old minor girl in Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh on June 26.

According to public prosecutor BS Thakur, Special Judge (POCSO) Nisha Gupta convicted Irfan alias Bhaiyu, 20, and Asif, 24, guilty and sentenced them to death under the newly introduced IPC section 376DB (punishment for rape of a woman under 12 years of age by one or more persons).

This verdict marks the 14th death penalty awarded in the state and turn out to be 13th death sentence regarding sexual offences.

A 35-page-chargesheet was placed in the court against the two accused by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) who probed the case and as many as 100 documents were submitted base on 92 witnesses, including doctors.

The two accused had abducted the girl while she was waiting for her father outside her school and took her to an isolated location. The accused use many objects to torture her and according to evidence, 50 different objects were used including knife to slit the throat of the victim in an attempt to kill her.

The two accused had been Charge-sheet under IPC sections 376 (d) (gangrape), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage), 363 (kidnapping) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The minor suffered serious injuries to her neck, face, head and private parts during the incident and she is undergoing treatment in Indore.

The trial had begun in Mandsaur on July 30 and final arguments were made before the court on August 14.
