Manipur Government to Set up Food Processing Units in State : CM N Biren Singh

CM N Biren Singh was attending the 11th State Pineapple Festival at Churachandpur

Imphal: Speaking at the 11th State Level Pineapple Festival, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the state government would set up four food processing units in the state. The units will have cold storage facilities which will be set up with financial assistance from the Centre.

Addressing the inaugural function of the Pineapple festival at Khousabang in Churachandpur district, Singh said that the processing units worth Rs. 20 crore each would be constructed at four different places.

The list for the proposed food processing units has been already forwarded to the Central government. Khousabung of Churachandpur has been included in the list. The region is famous for its pineapple. Singh also said that necessary steps would be taken to reconstruct the Moirang- Khousabang road under the aegis of PMGSY or state PWD

The Chief Minister also said that playground in Khousabung village would also be developed under Central government scheme “Khelo India”.

He said that 18 places had been recognized for the development of Sadbhavna Mandaps (people group lobbies) in various parts of the state. The state government will likewise consider the development of a typical multipurpose corridor for the communities living in the state, he included. Singh said Manipur would turn into a created state just when it sends out its items to different states and nations in huge scale.

He also said state government had given financial help to around 334 business people in the first round of State StartUp conspire and the warning for the second round would be issued soon.

During the programme, the Chief Minister distributed Manipur Pineapple Festival Awards to different farmers of the area. State agriculture minister V Hangkhanlian, horticulture minister Th Shyamkumar and YAS minister Letpao Haokip also attended the inaugural function.
