MARGHERITA, Dec 29: Margherita Town Mandal Congress Committee president Gautam Baruah ngia slammed the Prime Minister rendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre for not being able to control ‘dirty and hate politics’ by BJP leaders and workers.

“Before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister rendra Modi had assured that acche din would come but nothing happened. Instead prices of essential commodities have increased, crime has gone up, unemployment problem is growing day-by-day, women are insecure, black money has not been brought back to the country which was the main issue of the BJP. This indicates that after one year and seven months, the rendra Modi government has failed totally everywhere,” said ngia. “On Monday at Rajib Bhavan in Guwahati, BJP goons attacked Congress workers with machete and stones. This killed the democracy of our country and can be termed as black day for Assam.  Former Congress leader Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma made comments against Nilamoni Sen Deka. Dr Sarma should apologize to Nilamoni Sen Deka for those comments,” he added.

Meanwhile, Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee activists staged a sit-in on Tuesday in front of Margherita Congress Bhavan building for an hour in protest against BJP workers who brutally attacked Congress workers at Rajib Bhavan in Guwahati on Monday.

Suman Khalen, president of Margherita Assembly Youth Congress Committee, said that BJP workers crossed the line by allegedlyattacking Congress workers at Rajib Bhavan with machete and by pelting stones. “We condemn this heinous act by the BJP workers and warn them that they should refrain from indulging in such kind of politics,” said Khalen.More than 50 Youth Congress workers of Margherita participated  in the sit-in programme.
