MCIC organizes meet of 141 local bodies in social interest

SHILLONG, June 12: The Monitoring Cum Implementation Committee (MCIC) of Shillong South Constituency, under the leadership of local legislator Sanbor Shulla, organized a get-together with the representatives of the various organizations recently.

The organizations included Dorbar Shnongs, Village Councils, Church Committees, Puja Committees, Mosque Committees, Ashram Committees, Gurudwara Committees, Monastery Committees, School Committees, Mahila Committee, Seng Treilang ki Kynthei, Clubs, Societies, etc.

The get-together was held at Assam Club Laban, Shillong for Municipal Area and at CERA Club Hall Jhalupara for Cantonment Area Shillong under 19-South Shillong Constituency on June 9 and 10, and was attended by leaders, representatives and members of all 141 committees.

The aims and objectives of the get-together is to enhance and render social and welfare services to the general public especially to the poor and the down trodden of the society through the collective and sustainable responsibility of all the committees.

Shullai, in the meeting, had also discussed regarding the speedy implementation and timely completion of the previous ongoing sanctioned schemes and requested various committees to follow up with the positions of the schemes with officials of various departments for the timely completion of the same.

Shullai, who is the chairman of the committee, has also requested all the committees to submit their new proposals for developmental activities within their respective localities for the current year.

The MCIC also unanimously resolved to send a delegation headed by Shullai to meet and request the Chief Minister of Meghalaya and the Union Defence Minister to revert back the Garrison ground to the State and its people under the guardianship of the State Sports Department and the Laban Sports Club, especially keeping in mind the upcoming National Games to be held at Shillong in 2022.

Other issues which will be taken up by this delegation include utilization of unused land in the Defense Area for building of parking lots, Children Park, public toilets, community hall and other public amenities.

The delegation will be meeting the Chief Minister in this regard within this week.
