Media House Representatives Meet Additional Chief Secretary

GUWAHATI: Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Information and Public Relations Department Kumar Sanjay Krishna presided a meeting with the office bearers of North-East Newspaper Society and representatives of some leading media houses at the conference room of his office on Thursday. The meeting discussed on government advertisement and other related matters.

Kanaksen Deka, President of North-East Newspaper Society and Editor of Dainik Agradoot deliberated at length on advertisement rate, speedy clearance of advertisement bills, new advertisement policy etc. Rajib Prakash Baruah, OSD, Information and Public Relations Department said that Government has recently increased the budget of advertisement from Rs 1.40 crore to Rs 2.50 crore per month and mentioned various measures taken for timely payment of advertisement bills.

Additional Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna said that necessary directions have been issued for payment of advertisement bills on time. He also stated that the draft of new advertisement policy will be published soon and it will be finalised after accommodating opinions and suggestions of concerned stakeholders.

Rahul Rajkhewa, Director, The Sentinel; Subroto Sharma, Managing Partner, Dainik Janambhumi; Pranab Kumar Talukdar, GM, GL Publications Limited; Rishi Baruah, Business Development Manager and Pankaj Baruah, Asst. Advertisement Manager, Asomiya Pratidin; Manjil Borgohain, Collection Manager, Assam Tribune Private Limited were present in the meeting.

The Office bearers of North-East Newspaper Society and representatives of media houses expressed their satisfaction over the initiatives taken for timely clearance of advertisement bills. They also offered some suggestions in this regard, a press release stated.
