Meet on skilling unemployed youths held in Ri Bhoi

Shillong, June 27: The Deen Dayal Upadhya Grameen Kaushalya Yojna (DDU-GKY) Cell, SIRD, Nongsder, Ri Bhoi district in association with different Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) organized the first CXO meet in Meghalaya at District Library Auditorium, Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi district today for rural poor unemployed youths of the district.

The programme was inaugurated by HK Thabah, EAC in the presence of GS Lyndem, Chief Operating Officer of DDU-GKY, JK Lohani, State Programme Manager Finance DDU-GKY, L Dkhar, State Programme Manager Skills and others.

The programme was participated by the youths, headmen, gramsevak of the district C&RD Blocks and others and was conducted with an aim to ensure good industry connect for unemployed youths of the district.

The official of the DDU-GKY Cell SIRD highlighted on the motives of the DDU-GKY which was launched by the Government of India. It is a skill development programme which focused on rural BPL youth to inject employable skills and transform lives. The DDU-GKY has also targeted rural youth from poor families with an inclusive agenda - 50% for SC/ST, 33% for women, 15% for minorities and 3% for persons with disabilities. The vision of the DDU-GKY is also to transform rural poor youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce.

Furthermore, it has been informed that the state government in association with different PIAs such as Apollo Medskills Ltd Guwahati and Shillong Centre, NIAM Educational Foundation, Nongsder Ri Bhoi District, Donbosco Youth Mision & Educational Services Boko Assam Mendal and West Goro hills, CARDIAC Reseach & Education Foundation at Tura and Nongsder, ICA Edu Skills Pvt. Ltd at Kahilipara Guwahati is running training centres in the sectors of blood bank technician, emergency medical technician, dialysis technician, sewing machine operator, BPO voice and BPO - non voice, hospitality assistant, food & beverage service-steward, pharmacy assistant, front line health worker, home health aide and beauty therapy & hair style.

The duration of training will be ranging from three months to twelve months and after training, the trained candidates will be placed in companies as per their skills. The official of the DDU-GKY also informed that the age limit for the registered candidates will be from 18 years to 35 years and educational qualification is class VIII passed and above.

HK Thabah while delivering his speech lauded and appreciated the initiatives taken by the government for the better livelihood of the unemployed youths. He informed that DDU-GKY is providing a free skills training and free lodging for trainees, thereby he called upon the unemployed youth of the district to take this opportunity and register themselves for training in any sector according to their skills and he also appealed to the headmen, parents to convey the message to other youths about the partnership building with companies for placement of passed trainers trained under the flagship of DDU-GKY for their prosperous future.
