Meeting held to discuss traffic congestion problem in Rangia

RANGIA, May 22: In order to discuss about the regular traffic congestion problem in Rangia area, a meeting of Rangia Police was held at the chamber of the officer in-charge of Rangia Police Station on Tuesday. Leading citizens, police officers, scribes and representatives of various organizations like tempo, e-rickshaw, bus, mini truck drivers’ association, and Chamber of Commerce were present in the discussion. Pranab Kumar Pegu, SDPO Rangia, presided over the meeting. Ratan Das, officer in-charge of Rangia Police Station, Krishanu Pathak, TSI, Rangia PS, and Kulendu Hujuri, in-charge of Tulsibari outpost, gave a picture of the traffic congestion in the area, besides the inconvenience faced by police. Later, local citizens and scribes spoke about the problems faced by common people due to the traffic snarls in the area and urged for a solution to the problem. They also suggested that the traffic police must be strict with those who violate traffic rules, especially young bike riders.

Many valuable suggestions were put forward by the public in the meeting to minimize the problem and to avoid road accidents. They also suggested the police to take action against reckless driving and drunken driving. The meeting finally resolved to go for diversion of some routes like Bhutan-Tamulpur-Rangia bound tempos, besides other heavy motor vehicles. The meeting also urged the businessmen to vacate the footpath as early as possible and maintain the one-way route in the town.
