Meghalaya Education Policy Gets the Final Nod by Meghalaya Cabinet

The Meghalaya state cabinet on Friday gave nod to the Meghalaya State Education Policy 2018 and with this nod, the people of the state get their wish fulfilled which was so long been pending. State Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui, speaking about the final decision of passing the Meghalaya Education Policy said that it could be taken only after 230 individuals, associations and teachers’ suggestions are properly scrutinized and taken into consideration. The process thus took long but the outcome was satisfactory.

The education minister further said that a 24-member task force was constituted for scrutinizing the suggestions and the team met on many occasions. There was a lot of deliberation and exhaustive work behind the making of the policy. Through this policy now the main issues and concerns faced by the State are attempted to be solved.

According to this Education Policy, the learner will be the focal point in the entire education system envisioned for Meghalaya. Furthermore, other areas like vision, overall goal, and goals for the development of ECCE, Elementary, Secondary / Higher Secondary, Higher and Teacher Education will also be given due attention in the policy.
