Meghalaya: Former Congress Leader DD Lapang decides to join National People's Party (NPP)

Shillong: Months after his resignation from the Congress, veteran leader DD Lapang is all set to join the ruling National People's Party (NPP) in Meghalaya.

Following a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and NPP State President WR Kharlukhi at his office on Tuesday, Lapang made this announcement.

Lapang who had earlier remained a Chief Minister of Meghalaya said that his decision is influenced by the people and he cannot ignore the request of the people.

The veteran leader had resigned from the Congress in September. Following the resignation, the NPP-led state government had appointed Lapang as the Chief Advisor to the government.
