GUWAHATI, May 31: Since 2008, the Guwahati based KC Das Commerce College has been a centre of attraction for the students and parents as the institution maintained a monopoly in producing a good number of rank holders in the HS examination in the Commerce stream. However, reducing the hopes and speculation to ashes, this time the institution has got a rank free result sheet in the HS examination.
Although the overall pass percentage has increased to 97.53% in 2018, no student could secure a position in the toppers’ list. Only 75 students could secure star marks. Moreover, 186 students secured first division, 78 secured second division and 13 students secured third division.
Reacting to the disappointing situation, RS Tiwari, Principal, KC Das Commerce College, said, “Breaking the trend, the students’ union election was conducted for the first time in the campus which has diverted the students’ mind from routine study. Earlier, the members of the students’ union were selected by the management of the College.” Tiwari alleged that the students forced the College authority to conduct students’ election this year with written reference from ministers. Tiwari observed that the students were also engaged in social media wasting their valuable study time. However, stating that the management expected at least five students in the toppers’ figure, Tiwai said, “Something must have gone wrong during the verification of the answer sheets, for which we are planning to go for rechecking.”
