Houston (Texas), June 14: Mexico tied Venezuela 1-1 in their Copa America Centerio football tourment fil group match at the NRG Stadium.
As both teams had already qualified for the knockout stage, Mexico only needed a draw to secure the first place of the group in order to avoid a probable quarter-fil matchup with tourment favourites Argenti, reports Xinhua.
Mexico domited the play from the beginning here on Monday but never found the net until Jesus Manuel Coro’s sensatiol run in the 80th minute.
Coro who missed several chances, took on five defenders before firing off a shot from 10 yards for the equaliser. Venezuela went ahead with a 10th minute goal when Jose Manuel Velazquez received a header from Christian Santos and volleyed home.
In the 84th minute, Mexico’s goalkeeper Jose de Jesus Coro ensured they didn’t concede again as he saved a bicycle kick from Venezuela’s Josef Martinez. IANS
