‘Militancy In North East Has Come Down’: Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy

A Correspondent

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy said that militancy in the Northeast has come down to a great extent.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme in the city, Roy said, “If you consider the situation 12 years back when ULFA was there ...in Assam valley and in the hills, such situations there don’t exist anymore.”

He also said that the militants have learnt a lesson that India will not take anything lightly and that they are nowhere in front of the mighty armed forces both – military and paramilitary forces. Roy also said that compared to earlier times their recruitment is less and the moral of the militants are down.
