Mine Explosion in Pakistan Leaves 6 dead, 8 trapped

New Delhi: A major mine explosion in Pakistan’s Balochistan Province left at least six people dead and another eight mine workers are still trapped.

As per reports, the mine explosion took place during the late hours of Sunday and instantly killed six people on the spot.

Though the rescue and emergency teams have been rushed in order to rescue the trapped mine workers who are in a state of grievous injury, the major obstacle that has hindered swift rescue services is the great depth of the mine. As time passes by, the rescue team is still struggling to get out the trapped miners to safety.

"I don't think we will rescue them alive," said one of the rescue workers.

The poorly managed safety conditions in the mines of Pakistani make them highly volatile zones as they are prone to accidents. Earlier this year in May, 23 miners were killed in two mine accidents in Balochistan. Also, In 2011 in a major devastating and deadly series of mine explosions in Balochistan left at least 50 miners dead and hundreds of other miners seriously injured.

Rescue operations during mine explosion make it a very risky and herculean task for the rescue officials owing to the immense depth and temperature inside these mines. Safety precautions are often out of date and the mine owners give little heed to such hazardous issues.
