RANGIA, May 15: Ten boys, five of them minor, were rescued from the dragnet of human traffickers by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel from Rangia railway station platform no.1. According to the OC RPF, Asoke Das, they were rescued acting on a tip-off. The rescued minors hail from Bamunigaon village under Chhaygoan Police Station in Kamrup district and were about to be taken outside the State by train.

Two traffickers, Rajib Madahi (31) and Hemanta Madahi (23), both from village Bishnupur Dhanbill under Barbari Police Station in Baksa district, were apprehended by the RPF. During interrogation both the traffickers disclosed that one Prashanta Rabha of Chhaygoan handed over the minor boys to them and they had to hand them over to one Ganesh Kalita of village Jajiyabari under Nalbari district, who is currently in Nepal, in lieu of a handsome commission. Ismail of Kerala is the main person who supplies minor boys and girls from Assam to different States and counties, Das informed. Duplicate copy of Aadhaar card, driving license, PAN card, SBI ATM cards, two mobile handsets, a SIM card of Nepal and railway tickets were recovered from their possession. After interrogation, RPF handed over the boys and the traffickers to GRP Rangia.
