Mission Indradhanush launched at Asanang

Shillong, April 26:  The Special Intensified Mission Indradhanush was launched for the beneficiaries of West Garo Hills District at Asanang Community Hall on Thursday.

The immunization programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Ram Singh, District Medical and Health Officer Dr M Sangma and people of the surrounding areas. The Mission Indradhanush is one of the flagship programmes of the Centre under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, for coverage of all beneficiaries in the country.

The objective of the mission is to achieve 90 percent coverage in immunization of all children and pregnant women by December 2018.

The first round of Special Intensified Mission Indradhanush had started from April 23 to 27, 2018 and the second round will be held from May 21-25, while the third round will be conducted from June 18-22. Delivering his brief speech during the launch of the programme, Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh said immunization of all children is necessary and urged upon the parents to immunize their child at the right time. Taking equal care of pregnant and lactating mothers is also necessary in order to ensure healthy life for both mother and child, he said.

Singh also suggested translating of the Maternal Child Health Card, which is being provided by the Central Government, into local Garo language for the interest of the local people.
