Mission Indradhanush  launched at East Khasi Hills

Shillong, April 23:  All children have the right to access to adequate health services, said Mawphlang Constituency legislator SK Sunn.

He said this while launching the special intensified Mission Indradhanush programme under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan for East Khasi Hills district at Dorbar Hall at Mawngap in Mawkharshiing under Mawphlang C&RD Block.

The programme was organized by the office of the District Medical and Health Officer of East Khasi Hills.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare will conduct three rounds of Mission Indradhanush in the State. The first round is from April 23rd to 27th April, second round from May 21st  to 25th  May and the third round from  June 18th  to 22nd   of 2018.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunn said around 283 villages have been selected in the East Khasi Hills district for the implementation of the special intensified Mission Indradhanush with the objective to achieve 90 per cent full immunization coverage for children up to the age of two years and pregnant women.

He also urged the parents of children less than 2 years of age and pregnant women who are unimmunized or partially immunized to come forward and avail the services provided free of cost at all public health facilities under the government’s Universal Immunization programme. During the programme, the chief guest also handed over gifts to fully-immunized children.
