A Correspondent

SILCHAR: The Mizoram Bru Displaced Peoples’ Forum (MBDPF), headquartered at Naisingpara Relief Camp in Tripura North, through the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Kanchanpur, Tripura North, has submitted a memorandum on Saturday to District Magistrate North Tripura, Dharmanagar, CK Jamatia demanding immediate distribution of ration for the month of April. They had already sent another letter on April 18. It has been stated in the letter that the ration for the month of April has not yet been distributed. For the last 4 years, the distribution of ration items is being delayed by 10 to 20 days almost every month.

They have further stated that they have to submit several appeal letters to the SDM, district magistrate and collector, relief director, Principal Secretary (Rev.) Government of Tripura, Revenue Minister, Chief Minister and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for distribution of ration and cash-dole. It is also pertinent to mention here that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) letter vide F. No. 7/32/97-NE-II dated March 13, 2019 states that free ration is to be continued till September 30, 2019. Till today, the forum has received no positive response from the government. The condition of camp inmates has been deteriorating day-after-day due to hunger. They are apprehending many casualties in the camps owing to starvation if ration gets delayed for some more days.

The letter signed by Bruno Msha, general secretary, MBDPF, and A Sawibunga, president, MBDPF, urged upon CK Jamatia to take immediate steps for distribution of ration or else they would have to go for a democratic agitation including road blockade.
